interesting thought

>QUAD was an interesting show. Pete got to stay in the background as
the director because he had a band big enough to play it, and Roger was
doing all the work out front. It was such powerful music that I think it
carried him in a way that most shows don't. For once Pete got to feel the
magic.

I'm having interesting thoughts this morning. Here's part of something I
posted on O&S yesterday. So now I'm thinking how The Who never gets to hear
The Who play. Everybody else gets a chance to sit out in the audience and
experience The Who, but they're busy doing it, so they don't get that
opportunity.

Roger comes closest. Out there in the front, it's almost like he's in the
front row, and he can feel that big sound of the band behind him. As long
as he's not singing, he can enjoy it--and of course he thinks it's magic.
We haven't heard much of Zak's experience at early Who concerts, but
presumably he saw them live during the Moon era and he's felt it, too. But
John and Pete are always busy, and they've never gotten the chance to stand
out there in the front of it and listen.

Pete had an opportunity for the '89 tour, but it looks like he was so busy
having an attitude that he never stopped to listen. I think he really got
to enjoy the QUAD tour. There are spots in the tapes where you can see him
watch the show, or where he loses that self-conscious tendency and suddenly
becomes a part of the music.

Cool, huh?
