Subjectivity, Battles and Simon Townshend

I'm going to try and tiptoe around this Mark (and now Bruce) vs. all else
discussion.
I'm very glad to see this on the list.

I think of Mark as a good friend. It's a strange friendship, because I've
never met him. We've had our disagreements about non-Who matters before so
strife is not unknown. We've never disagreed about anything Who related
until the death of JAE. The discussion that has been going on here lately
mirrors a rather contentious discussion I had with him just prior to the
Boston show. I don't agree with his position at all. I can't even
understand it. I really think he is out of his tree on this. Our argument
was a real buzzkill for me that night in Mansfield. We've agreed to
disagree since we're both pretty hard-headed, so we do have peace at the
moment :-)

Here's where my Whoness stands as of today:
I had one of the best nights of my life just this February at John's last
show. I did not have a very good time this July in Mansfield. I've been
trying to sort out the "whys" on this because I want to have a shot at a
live Who buzz again (post JAE). I'm gonna try and do like Bruce suggests
and not let anyone rain on my parade. I'm not going to debate this subject,
but it is nice to see that others share my view and that others share Mark's
view. Maybe neither one of us is out of our tree.

And now for something not so completely different...The Battle of New
Orleans:
I'm of English descent. My family name was Howes in the old country. I had
some pretty gnarled teeth when I was a young man (my orthodontist fixed
that). I do like fish and chips (I live in New England, dammit). My
favorite popsicle flavor is green.
One of my best friends is an Irishman from Galway. He is not a drunk, but
he does like good beer. He has a deep abiding resentment of Englishmen. He
would not come near our tailgate party at Mansfield because Union Jacks make
him crazy.
I think these thoughts relate to AEB vs. mc in some way.

"simontownshendis":
I've had this new compilation for a few days now. I am now really hooked on
this guy. If you haven't checked him out, you might want to give him a try.
I thought about buying some of the Who 'soundboard limited themusic encore
recordings', but I opted for the Simon disc instead. I give Simon the
thumbs up. You can buy it at www.simontownshend.com.
