Re: are the who important?

the who came around in 1964/65. in that time, the big bands were the beatles
and the stones. they were both good of course (some of you may disagree but
there's no disagreement in their huge popularity and influence on the future
of rock), but the who were the first ones to turn up the volume, make some
ears bleed, invented the "crashing power chords" and even though some say
John lennon "invented" feedback on a record ("I feel fine" in late 1964), i'm
sure pete was doing that in the who's stage shows, not yet on record. and if
it werent for the who, there'd be no zeppelin, hendrix and other hard
rock/heavy metal bands that came after them. I rest my case.
