re: "settling the argument"

yep, the who are better, that's why their "bbc sessions" album debuted at no.
101 and falling and the beatles "1" was no. 1 for 8 weeks on the charts.

the beatles were different because they had a different sound than america
was used to at the time. they also had the "long hair" (believe it or not,
their hair was a sign of rebellion!) they even had the top 5 positions on the
singles charts at one point! the who were ALSO different because they were
the first band that played harder rock n' roll, next to the kinks. and let's
not forget their stage demolition which was also new and different and
exciting. the 60's were a time of change. every band and artist that was out
at the time was doing something different, and it all started with the
beatles. after them, thousands of people were coming out of the blue doing
new things. the who included. before the beatles, it was frankie avalon,
fabian, pat boone, elvis' corny film songs, and even the singing nun!
the feedback heard at the beginning of "i feel fine" by the beatles happened
by accident but they decided to put it on the record anyway. the song came
out in late 1964 and the who didn't have a single out until 1965!
by the way, i heard that the kinks released a rock opera titled "arthur"
which came out way before "tommy" but didnt have the success "tommy" had.
figure THAT out! could it be because ray davies heard about pete's "project"
and decided right away to do it himself and get it out before the who had the
chance? who knows?

the beatles' music is being used these days also. smash mouth, train, even
the band that is named after pete's project LIFEHOUSE sounds a bit like the
beatles and is gaining a huge following cause of it.

when you have two beatle fans on this list, the argument about them and the
who goes on. it's better to end it here. this is just my opinion, but
according to what ive read, heard and seen, everything i just said happens to
be true. i'm not putting the who down, if i didnt like them, i wouldnt be on
the list. the beatles and the who have always been my two top favorite bands
of all time.

as for a new who album, who knows if they're gonna make it or not. John is
touring with a BEATLES COVER BAND IN NOVEMBER!
