Jimmy page at the time saw that the blonde macho frontman was getting a 
little big. he saw ROGER DALTREY and the frontman for the yardbirds whom he 
was a member of for a while and when he started to form the "new yardbirds" 
(which later became led zeppelin of course) he needed a blonde frontman and 
found robert plant.   this info comes from the vh1 legends documentary on the 
band. 
i was watching vh1 classic and saw a current performance of "kashmir" by page 
and plant and noticed that behind them was an orchestra. didn't page and 
plant reunite in 1995, a year after roger toured with a symphony orchestra to 
do townshend songs?  hmmmmm. rip off? I think so. if i'm wrong, point it out.
