>Parsons, Wilson, Rundgren, And Entwistle Take Beatles Tribute On The Road
(4/5/01, 10 a.m. ET) -- Alan Parsons, Todd Rundgren, Ann Wilson of Heart,
and John 0Entwistle of the Who have one thing in common--they're Beatles
fans, and they'll be taking their admiration of the "Fab Four" out on the
road this summer with a tribute tour. Walk Down Abbey Road - A Tribute To
The Beatles is being presented by Paul Zukoski, the man responsible for
bringing the popular B.B. King Blues Festivals to venues across the country
for the last 11 years.
Zukoski told LAUNCH what fans can expect from the show: "We've got Alan
Parsons, Ann Wilson, John Entwistle, and Todd Rundgren. They'll be
performing their own hits for the first half of the show, and the second
half of the show will be nothing but Beatles songs, which all
of the artists that I just mentioned will be collaborating and picking the
songs that best fit not only their playing style, but their vocal style.
Alan will be instrumental in picking all the songs."
Zukoski told LAUNCH it was Parsons who brought the idea for the Beatles
tribute show to him: "The name of the tour is Walk Down Abbey Road - A
Tribute To The Beatles. It originated from Alan Parsons. Alan Parsons was a
producer of...actually, he was an engineer at Abbey Road for years, and he
also produced several of the Beatles albums and a lot of the Paul McCartney
and Wings albums."
Artist rehearsals for Walk Down Abbey Road - A Tribute To The Beatles begin
the first week of June. A full list of tour dates and venues is not yet
available, but Zukoski said the tour will kick off on June 15 in California
and continue for a four- or five-week initial run.
