Re: Boxed set; Tears; spiritual Who; HEY RICH READ THIS ONE!

Jon:

I wasn't saying it wasn't worth having, but I don't like it where it is...in
the middle of the music, and running over some of it like a bad DJ. As with
most comedy, a few listens and you know it word for word...and trust me, I
know about comedy because in my used CD store comedy doesn't sell...for this
very reason, music stands multiple listens but comedy doesn't. Put at the
end of the disc, it could be skipped...on another disc with the rest which
wasn't released, even better, for when you're in that mood.

Jeff:

Nine, mine hair. Not subjective but extremely aware of the historical place
The Who should occupy in Rock history. Since the boxed set is likely to be
the one thing people will buy to get the Who part of their collection
together. Now as a Who fan, I'm sure you're screaming at the top of your
lungs that they should own it ALL, and you know I agree, but we must be
realistic here. And, as a career overlook, the boxed set doesn't quite cut
it for me. Close, but no cigar.

You know, it's funny...I first heard it in my car too, on the way home from
the CD store that Tuesday morning. I started with I Can See For Miles, and
when I got home I immediately EMailed my reaction to this very list. Look it
up in the archives, if you dare...but I remember asking if Rael was the
greatest Who song of all time.

Kevin:

Come down here to Texas and say that, punk...wait, what am I saying? Sorry,
went Neanderthal there for a second...

What I'm talking about is probably the same, although for the record I DON'T
SNIFFLE. Or snivel. Anyway, yes it's a tear of joy I'm writing of. Like when
you suddenly realize what someone means to you, or something that you were
worried about vanishes with a single thought. The Who can have that effect.
And of the many other bands I've seen over the years, I can't think of
another that has affected me in that way. And only one album, that being
Quad.

> hiking and boarding in the mountains, than sitting in a stuffy old church

There you go! Especially the Smoky Mountains, a more spiritual place on
Earth I cannot imagine. Brings a tear to me eye, aye it does.
(That one for the Irish on the list, happy St Paddy's and all that. No
snakes and all that.)

> (sorry, no offense to those who enjoy going to church)

Hey, the Big G is everywhere, not just in some old buildings that cost money
that could have been used to help the poor...

BTW, the subject title of this note is related to a private EMail. Just so
you guys don't think I'm cracking up or getting worse, or however you see
it.
