Re: Rock N Roll morals

Alan:

Bcause I don't know he's racist, and I do know he's evil (albeit
buffoonishly evil...doesn't know the cause of global warming my ass). He's
evil because he's too stupid to understand or acknowledge the truth. He's
evil because he runs the country as an elitist, and an elitist will never do
what's best for the majority.
In the world according to George Dubya, we would have never gotten The Who
or Kinks or Beatles or any band of substance. Sure, we'd have The Monkees
and Fleetwood Mac (after Peter Green left), but his "moral compass" would
surely balk at the concept of a band who recorded a song with the lead
singer stuttering because he's done too much speed. He'd probably declare it
wrong while he was snorting cocaine.

No, moral realism. The people who set themselves up to dictate morals are
99.9% of the time blind to the truth of human nature and of lessor
intelligence in the first place.
Do you honestly think Pete Townshend is unable to decide what's best for
him? That idiots like Jerry Falwell or Ralph Reed knows what's best for Pete
Townshend? Or for you, or me? We would have never gotten the Rock music we
all care about (by any band) had it not been for drugs and a hell of a lot
of free sex. That is until one gets caught masturbating while watching a
hooker or tells his wife he's leaving her on her cancer bed.
And you might make the case that Pete shouldn't decide for himself, because
he's gotten hooked on Heroin and drank himself (almost) into oblivion, but
people make mistakes and it's a lot different to screw up once in a while
and to have a philosophy in which certain moral situations are absolute, no
matter what the fallout might be.

Depends on the circumstances. See, that's proof morals cannot be an absolute
and determined by someone for everyone.

Done.
