The artist want to control the content, want to
release a perfect product, even if that requires
overdubbing vocals, guitar parts, etc. They don't want
you to hear bum notes. To me that's what makes a show
unique, worth having. I don't want the perfect
recording in a live show, it just doesn't happen, it's
a fraud if it does exist. If I wanted the perfect
recording, I'll buy the studio release like main
stream America. I'll listen to Britney Spears or some
other no talent all-star!

I want the warts and all recording. That's real,
that's what they really sounded like that night.
That's the appeal of the bootleg. And if they release
that particular show legitimately, then I'll go buy
that too.

The band isn't losing revenue. I'll buy everything
that they release, I have done so in the past, and
I'll continue to do so in the future. I put five times
as much money in theie pockets becuase I want
everything that they've done. The casual fan, the one
who liked the one song on the radio, the one who
thinks that that's the only song the band ever
recorded probably won't buy another disc, unless they
score another hit.
I've always bought their material. I bought the album
when it came out, I bought the single, I bought the CD
when I couldn't find the album anymore, and then I
bought the CD again. I want more. Unfortunately, they
're not putting out a new CD every couple of weeks, or
months. If I want something else, I need to find an
alternative, and for me that's a bootleg. As soon as
something new does arrive at the local shop, I'll be
first in line, or at least near the front of the line.
Where did they lose money?

Pete has always been overly critical of his music;
he's a perfectionist. Perfect example, Woodstock. One
of the most intense, powerful, dramatic performances
ever to see the light of day. He won't release becuase
he thinks it was an awful show. It's a hell of a lot
better than IOW! He thinks IOW was one of their best
performances. I think it was one of their sloppiest.
I'll settle for less than perfect, I'm more objective,
and I'm spending the money. If he reased an hour's
worth of the band rubbing two sticks together and
banging on trash can lids, I'd buy it!!

Be happy you even got it!
