fear & anxiety

keets said "Did you check out VANPIRES? John pretty much comes out and
says it's about fear."

No I haven't. I only have one JEB disc "Left for Live" and I am kind of
lukewarm on it. I am thinking that rock music is not suited for dealing
with this subject. I am having a helluva time coming up with any good rock
(in my collection) that is a good tonic for fear and anxiety. I am finding
that expressing anger (the rock way) is just not effective for me.

Blues seems to be a much better suited genre to deal with fear and anxiety
for me. That it was invented for (well, not the me part). It is the music
of slaves. These people had no power at all to deal with the hell they were
living and knew there was no way out. They came up with a musical style
that evokes submission, escapism and freedom in the soul of the individual.

Rock does not like submission. It is too macho and immature to give in.
Rock wants to laugh or bluster in the face of fear. Maybe I am just not
finding the right rock, but I do believe what I just typed for the moment
:-)
