Hmmm. Good analysis, Brian. The British vs. American headings are
enlightening, but actually the General vs. Live School classification
could be considered separate from the other two, don't you think?
There WAS a major transition point about the time The Who made their
first American tour, which lends to the continental differences, and I
think that IS a definite demarkation point. So is the death of KM.
Would you consider breaking these down into time periods with
subheadings? Also, I think there should be a category for post-Moon
fans. How about this:

I. Early Who - The Punk Period (aka The British School)
   A. General body of work
   B. Live performances

II. Middle Who - The Progressive Period (aka The American School)
   A. General body of work
   B. Live performances

III. Late Who - Post-Moon (aka Getting It Together Again)
   A. General body of work
   B. Live performances

Their output has been pretty erratic since 1980, but some of it is
quite excellent. Surely there are a few more current fans around. We
may be a small school of thought, but we do exist. ;)
