I caught this too.  I also saw a follow-up post called "What if...? What
if...?"
Where Pete said that we knew that there was a strong response by many people
that thought he was trashing Roger.  He also said that he and Roger go back
to far to not allow for irony.   This was only posted for a while, and both
were gone.   Pete is policing himself it seems.  As Yoda would say:
"Thought better of it, he did!"

I once heard that when you are writing an angry letter, you should write it,
then put it aside before mailing it.  When your mood changes, and you can
think more clearly, you should throw it away.  If this approach was practiced
by email and chat-room users, the internet would possibly vanish. :->
