TEEN SPIRIT Royal Albert Hall 5th ? 9th February 2002 Benefit in aid of
Teenage Cancer Trust Charity Registration n:1062559

Quote from Teenage Cancer Trust co-chair Dr Adrian Whiteson, OBE:

?We are delighted that The Who are once again supporting Teenage Cancer
Trust in its quest to improve the health and treatment of teenagers
suffering from cancer and other malignant diseases. Their contribution is
invaluable, as is the involvement of all the other stars who will be taking
part in the Teen Spirit benefit concerts at the Royal Albert Hall. These
events will not only raise money, as The Who and Friends did last year, but
also awareness of the particular needs of our adolescent patients. They are,
after all, our future. All cancer sufferers can be treated within the NHS,
but our units address both the medical, and also the social and
psychological needs of this particular age group. We are indebted to the
musicians and entertainers, as well as their management and support teams
for their help with this vital campaign.?

Teenage Cancer Trust Information for Supporters? Press Releases:

Teenage Cancer Trust will spend the money raised by the Teen Spirit Benefits
on specialist teenage cancer units. Each costs at least #750,000. The Trust
already sponsors six in the UK, all within NHS hospitals. These are in
London (two sites), Manchester, Birmingham, Newcastle and Leeds. The
Charity?s target is to have a total of 20, so that every teenager with
cancer in the UK has access to these excellent facilities. Teenage Cancer
Trust numbers Sarah, Duchess of York, Nick Faldo, Mark Knopfler, Prince
Naseem, Bill Kenwright CBE and Ben Kingsley among its many patrons. The
Charity focuses on the particular needs of UK teenagers and young adults
with cancer, leukaemia, Hodgkin?s and related diseases. Their units are
developed and decorated as dedicated areas for teenage patients in key
sites. The rooms in each unit are designed in a colourful and sympathetic
manner providing space for leisure, homework, rest and play. Wherever
possible patients themselves are involved in the concept and decoration of
the units. Teenage Cancer Trust is also developing a network of support
services for both teenage patients and their families.

Background Information on The Who supporting Teenage Cancer Trust: Legendary
rockers The Who and friends including Noel Gallagher, Paul Weller, Eddie
Vedder, Bryan Adams, Kelly Jones and Kennedy wowed audiences at a special
benefit at London?s Royal Albert Hall on November 27th 2000, and presented
Teenage Cancer Trust's co-chair Dr Adrian Whiteson, OBE, with a cheque for
#1 million. The money was raised during The Who?s American tour (2000) as
well as at the Royal Albert Hall, and is going towards the creation of two
new TCT units at Liverpool and Southampton. This year, at the launch of 'The
Who Live at the Royal Albert Hall' DVD on 24th September, a Rock & Roll
Memorabilia auction which included items donated by The Who, Mark Knopfler,
Keith Emerson and several other stars raised over #22,000. Roger Daltrey,
speaking on behalf of the band, announced: "We're not just fundraising for
the next single unit. We won?t stop until Teenage Cancer Trust gets all 20
units needed." Proceeds from sales of the DVD are being donated to Teenage
Cancer Trust, thanks to the further support of MCY.com, Aviva International
and Direct Video Distribution.
