Re: More lyrical sparring

Agreed. It's not good for The Who, though, unless there's something raw
about it.

Or his inner child, maybe. :)

They all seem to be sulking, BTW. I must have hurt their feelings. ;)

Did I mention that I consider the two pieces Texas TKAA2K and "Crossroads
Now" to complete a mini-opera? That's a pretty good accomplisment for a
band that hasn't completed any new work in 20 years. TKAA provides the
emotional content and Manchester CN provides the gorgeous music. Even if
they decide not to expand it, I'm happy with what I got--a sharp little
mini-opera to add to the body of their work. Plus, I think those two pieces
together are about as good as anything they've ever done.

Only if the older rockers continue to present good work. Rolling out the
sixties hits in exactly the same style won't provide any pathway for younger
bands to follow. So far, it looks like mature rock artists branch out.
Many of them work now in movies and soundtracks and lately, of course,
Broadway. Several have showed in interest in classical-style music. It
would be interesting to see if rock could be revitalized by mature artists
that return from these pursuits with greater knowledge and style.

Yeah, I think that's what's wrong.
