Re: "Exodus/Movement of Jah people"; Lyrics and more lyrics

> Tax relief for America's workers"

Jim:

Let's be completely accurate, shall we (if you dare)? "...taken from your
next year's tax return (not the budget surplus, which no longer exists
thanks to Bush), although ABSOLUTELY NO MENTION of 2001 is present.
But...we won't get fooled again. You of course have the right to believe the
smoke and mirrors, but I refuse to.

Keets:

However this would not explain the use of the word "exodus," as that is a
mass movement not an individual or single family group.

> referring to how teens during out time are often strung out on drugs.

The VAST majority of drug users were never "strung out." So I suggest you
lose the word "often." It doesn't apply and is misleading, feeding into the
misinformation given out by those afraid of drugs (but OK with alcohol).

> Hiwatt gets even more ambitious in the packaging of The Who Instant

Brian:

Isn't Hiwatt a bootleg label? My original BBC disc is on Hiwatt.

> Pete is one of Rock's greatest lyricists, unquestionably.

EB:

Second only to Dylan, and one could make the argument Dylan's not a Rock
lyricist. I wouldn't, but...

> Nah. Just average. ;)

Keets:

Anyone who can write a lyric like "UV lights making starshine of her smile"
or "Shocking warm crystaline glances to show" is not average.
I'll bet his IQ is on the Clinton level, which is 185 (more than twice that
of...or need I even say it?)

> I'm getting worried about the property siezure thing.

Look, it's a bird, it's a plane...no it's your civil rights flying away with
each successive Micropublican president.

> about siezing the company assets.

It's a little different when you actually harm someone else. Problem is they
can seize your property for a joint. THAT is uncalled for!

> But many did go to work, because the trend was already to evaluate women

Many may have, but most didn't. I grew up during that time, and my mother
was the ONLY one who worked among my schoolmates (owned a motel), and then
only because my father had died.
I was also the only single parent kid I knew. My how things have changed.

> Immigrants have always been a large part of the US economy, and have
filled

But these are ILLEGAL immigrants. See the fourth word in that sentence. The
US has yearly quotas for immigrants and Mexico is about 100 years ahead of
theirs. In the meantime, more people are in jail for marijuana than any
other single crime. They must be incredibly bad people or something.
BTW, about these so-called "menial" jobs. ALL the concrete construction work
around here is done by illegal immigrants...would you call that menial or
skilled? But they do it cheaper, pay no taxes...putting Americans out of
work and driving up the cost (and thereby lowering the quality) of education
and health care.

> it's good music, but for some reason I've never been much interested in
it.

That's your priviledge. I feel the same way about Phish.

> Do you think TOMMY is a straight narrative?

For the most part, yeah. "There's a doctor I've found to cure the boy." "The
tests I gave him show no sense at all." Or "Do you think it's alright to
leave the boy with Uncle Ernie?" "I'm your wicked Uncle Ernie..." Pretty
straightforward to me.

They didn't have time to complete it, according to Townshend, due to their
touring schedule. I read somewhere that they weren't sure what songs were
used and which order when they went out on the road. And I've always felt
I'm Free should have been after Smash The Mirror instead of after Sally
Simpson. It really doesn't make sense there, at least the way I read it. And
when they made the movie, the song was moved there.
