Who fan abused by non- Who fan

 > Question for the group: How does your obsession play in the non-Who
world?

Most of my friends understand. My relatives just think it's my little
"quirk." Some of the more periphery relatives, when they realized I was
going to see The Who in Atlanta said things like, "What, you STILL like
them????" Meaning that, of course, I should have "outgrown" it by now.

Someone on one of the lists made a wonderful point several months ago
about - why is it o.k. for sports fans to be obsessed about their
team...buying season tickets, wearing cheese on their heads, etc. and it is
considered perfectly normal? My husband has season tickets for the Falcons
(no jokes, please.) It's considered by everyone else perfectly normal that
he wishes to go see them play ten times in a season. But let me see the Who
once every three years or so and its, "Oh, there she goes again." (Let me
set the record straight, fortunately my husband is NOT one of the ones who
feels this way. Otherwise, he wouldn't be my husband.)

For me, it always gives me a little smile to know that - whoever I have come
across in the course of my life, people I have worked with, gone to school
with (especially old boyfriends like that first love in high school) will
NEVER be able to hear a Who song on the radio and not think about me . :-)
