Pete on Healthcare (no who)

I loved reading what Pete had to write on Healthcare.
I feel the same way, and only wish someone had a plan that would work.
It should really be a birthright to be healthy.
The reality is that there currently isn't a model or plan out there that
works. And new plans don't exist at the moment.
Our Hospitals in VT daily accept patients being sent down from Quebec for
Radiation Therapy and other services not available in a timely manner in
Canada.
Access to services is worse in countries like The Netherlands, and also the
UK.
This is according to provider surveys, with the UK (surprising to me)
actually having the most difficult time providing services like Hospital
beds, Homecare nursing, Long-term care beds, etc.
Thats comparing the US, UK, AUS, CAN, NZ.

This all isn't all opinion. These are facts as presented by Ian Morisson,
Healthcare futurist and author from Scotland who is widely respected in the
Healthcare community.

We (the US) have more MRI machines in LA county alone, then all of Canada
(I'll have to check that one, it may only be 2/3 of Canada).
But, the point is we have all this "stuff", and many (*many*) can't get to
it.
The US is #37th............***37th*** in healthcare delivery (efficiency and
coverage).
**That** is embarrassing.
The bottom line is......until a better mousetrap is built, it ain't getting
any better......anywhere.

Hey, what'cha think I was doing when I was "Kevin in Ca"?

Pete's right. We're generous when we're face-to-face (and nice and kind too
;), but when it's removed from infront of us, we don't care.
There are limits to capitalism. A persons health shouldn't be a part of it.

Sorry to get so serious on ya.
Kevin in VT.
