Re: Roger pontificates

Jeremy,
Right you are. I was not clear. Let me try that again.

The Who are not the fount from which all subsequent good Rock spurted. No
artist (who is sane) is truly unique. There are only degrees of uniqueness.

The Who's music can be catergorized - it is Rock. Call it Classic-rock,
Brit-rock, Prog-rock, White-rock, Pretentious-Rock, Punk-Rock or Who-Rock it
is still Rock.

This Roger argument is simply his restatement of Pete's age-old argument
that "Rock is dead". I don't believe that now any more than I ever did.
Sure, Rap-Metal isn't real appealing. There are artists who are trying to
twist the old into something that is relatively unique. Try Radiohead,
Pearl Jam, Beck, Red Hot Chilli Peppers for starters.

I worry that this tired 'rock is dead' idea is simply one of Pete's
rationalization for failing to write and record great new stuff and that
Roger is now echoing and buyin into it.
