I don't know exactly when, but it was in the 70's.  There was discussion on
this list a few months back about a European metal band (the name escapes
me) which had bettered the Who's decibel level.  When I get a chance I'll
see if I can dig it up.  You might get a faster respnse (and more of them)
by posting directly to the list at thewho@igtc.com . I'll forward this one
to the list....
