Finally, i've got bush!
I finally received my copy of BTTB today and am listening to it as i type.
So far (after the 1st CD, or maybe it's the 2nd?) i'd have to say it's
fucking brilliant! Only quarrel so far is Rog singing w/ JAE on 'My Wife',
i'd rather just hear The Ox.
And now my 2 pence on The 'oo's voices. Of course my opinion is only
contracted from albums, as i've never seen them live (55 days until
Detroit!). I have to agree with those who've said that the 3's voices have
lost quite a bit over the years, but i also have to say - so what!?! For
me, it's kinda like the best of both worlds. When i listen to each of the 3
sing now, i can hear how much they (along with their voices) have changed,
but i can also picture (for lack of a better word) their voices from the 60s
& 70s in my head. It's not as if they sound horrible now, i think they
sound great, but when they break into 'I Can't Explain', not only do i hear
the 1999 TED, but i also hear (or more to the point, *feel*) the 1960s/70s
WHO. The best way to explain it, i guess, is to compare it to the film
version of TOMMY. The only reason i can sit down & watch the movie & not
throw up hearing Oliver Reed & Ann Margaret singing is that i can picture
The Who at the Isle of Wight when i hear the music.
I guess that's another reason The Who are so fucking good - the songs just
have a passion that comes along with them & once you've caught it, you can
never lose it. Know what i mean?
And also, i forget who mentioned it, but yes, The Ox *does* need to be
turned up!
