I have a normal American Standard Fender Strat I bought back in 1997 and I
can do Hendrix-dive-bombs on the whammy bar and it comes up staying right
in tune.  It doesn't have the locking nut at the headstock
either.  Whatever they improved, they did it right.  One listen to any
Hendrix boot has him tuning his guitar in between *EVERY* song (but he was
so good!:-)
