BRS video

>I've gotten in the BRS video and thought everybody might like to hear
>something about it. For anyone who hasn't been following the BRS, this is
>the British Rock Symphony performance at Ragley Hall, Devon, England.
>Performers included a small symphony type orchestra, a gospel choir and a
>rock band including Geoff Whitehorn on electric lead, Simon Townshend on
>acoustic and Zak Starkey on drums. Simon gets prominent billing on the
>jacket, along with Roger, Alice Cooper, Gary Brooker (of Procul Harum),
>Darlene Love (R&B), Nikki Lamborn, and Paul Young. Keith Levenson
>conducts.

>It's a fairly short video at 60 minutes running time, and there are a
>couple of awkward transitions, which I gather is because this is edited for
>television--it has been showing on PBS in NY. One interesting thing about
>this is that Simon actually gets more camera time than Roger, which makes
>it a great video for Simon Townshend fans.

>Simon is on for the whole show playing guitar and singing backup. He also
>performs two songs solo, "Blackbird" and an excellent job on "Norwegian
>Wood"--somehow actually making it sound fresh and interesting. Roger sings
>"Street Fightin' Man," "See Me, Feel Me/Listening to You" and "Pinball
>Wizard" pretty much solo, and then "Start Me Up" and "5:15" with Alice
>Cooper, "Let it Be" with Darlene Love and "With a Little Help From My
>Friends" with the ensemble. It's a decently filmed video (though not
>outstanding) and the sound is good. Everybody turns in a strong
>performance, and there's some evidence that Roger is picking up a R&B
>sound. ;)

>There is a note that a portion of the proceeds benefit the "Let Music Live"
>foundation (possibly a Roger project), which provides financial aid to
>underprivleged youth for musical pursuits. The video is available in NTSC
>format for $24 from http://www.britishrock.com.
