I guess I fall somewhere in between youse two.
"Another Tricky Day" is one of my favorite Who songs,
certainly in the Top 5 among their underrated numbers
(along with "So Sad About Us" and "In A Hand Or A
Face"). However, I suppose it could've been recorded
in a manner that could make it sound even BETTER;
after all, many people weren't happy with Bill
Szmconsonantcluster's production on the album,
correct? Similarly, though I think "LROM" is a
fantastic song and Roger sang it very well, I know
that he was very dissatisfied with how he was recorded
on Quad--buried too much in the mix.

I'm not at home so I can't tell you, but this is
another underappreciated song. I heard it on the
radio here in Madison the other day and wondered if
Pete or Roger had died, it was such a surprise
(whenever I hear a rarely-played song, like "Give
Blood," this fear surfaces instantly. Then I look at
which station I have on and notice that it's the one
that actually has an unpredictable playlist).

And since we're all opining on Zep, I might as well
say that I was very fond of them in my teens. I was
an even bigger Beatles fan then. My enthusiasm for
both faded upon being persuaded to listen to The Who.
In the 1970s I heard very little Who music on Chicago
radio. Now whenever I hear the Beatles or Zep on the
radio, I typically change stations. They've been
overexposed and I've grown tired of hearing them. I'm
periodically amazed that with very few exceptions
(e.g., BBE), I'm always thrilled to hear a Who song on
the radio.

I've ALWAYS hated the Stones. : D
