THE WHO are among a series of celebrities lined up to guest star in the
next series of top cartoon The Simpsons. 

The original mod rockers will play themselves in the first episode, A
Tale of Two Springfields. Homer becomes upset about a new phone code
dividing Springfield and goes on a mission to divide East and West
Springfield into separate towns. Homer then elects himself mayor of West
Springfield and wages war on the East. It is up to The Who to stop the
war. 

Other celebrities lined up for the series are writer Stephen King and
actors Michael Keaton, Edward Norton and Patrick McGoohan. The stars
will play themselves in the long-running animated comedy, which starts
its 12th season on November 5 in the US. 

Other pop stars who have appeared in The Simpsons include Paul and Linda
McCartney, Ringo Starr and Sting.
