My point was that Roger and John have less to generate income for them than
Pete does, even though they've put the same time and effort into the music
business. As long as they've made solid investments, I don't expect they'll
be in the poorhouse, but still they don't have the money to finance huge
projects like much richer (and more captalist) rock stars do.

Somebody (on O&S, I think it was) did a really excellent breakdown a while
back about the royalty structure and how it is that Pete makes his money
from the songs vs. how Roger and John do. Bootlegging hurts them
considerably more than it does him, and it strongly suggests the idea that
Roger and John should promote their songs for use in ads and movie
soundtracks the way Pete has been doing, plus actively write songs for
soundtracks the way John did with Van-pires. That way you get the money up
front and you have to worry less about the royalty issue.

On the same subject, what they're doing now is an excellent money making
venture for Roger and John (and Pete, too, of course). Roger said they only
made back their startup costs on Quad, but it looks like they've researched
the current music scene and come up with a cost-cutting plan and a tiered
price structure for this tour, softened somewhat by giveaways, that should
generate actual income. I'd think this was an excellent way to go, as every
band is pretty much in charge of its own destiny these days. They can't
depend on a record label for much in the way of marketing and promotion, and
it's best to have a little bit of cash flow to put back into the business.
