YOU ARE WHO?
Pete Townshend, Roger Daltrey and John Entwistle gathered in New York to
announce plans for a 20-date Who tour of the U.S. starting in June and
ending in October.
They are also releasing a live album recorded last year available only
via the online music retailer musicmaker.com. The twenty tracks are
available for download as well as a special deluxe edition which
specifically excludes "Boris the Spider."
Commenting on his hearing problems, Townshend joked, "I really don't
know why the Who needed to be so loud" ... adding that when he performs
live now, he just needs to play loud enough to drown out the constant,
high-pitched humming that torments him day and night.
The Who will be touring with Jimmy Page and the Black Crowes, playing
different nights in the same arenas and sharing the same road crew,
lights, sound and stage ... but by now it's doubtful the Crowes will
have to share their groupies.
The Black Crowes consider Page one of their greatest influences, while
Page reportedly considers the Black Crowes one of his most reliable drug
connections.
When they lost their drummer in 1978 the Who carried on as a tribute to
Keith Moon ... now, over two decades later, they carry on as a tribute
to Great Britain's preposterously high tax rates.
