I'm interested in anyone's thoughts on the orchestral version of "Baba" too,
now that people have had a while to digest it. I've read at least one post
from a person who loved it, but I have a hard time listening to it all the
way through--it sort of fades in and out of perception. It has one or two
delicate little nuances that really, really catch at my attention, but
mostly it's ignorable.

Someone who can follow it, please help me out with what he's done here. Is
this the standard background music without the lyric track?

I think that's what's missing. It would be fine for background music in a
film, and maybe he intended it to be just that for the play, but I want to
hear a theme--and that would be the lyric lines. Those grand themes are
what are so terrific about TOMMY and QUAD, and they really come out on those
big band tours in '89 and '96-'97. Roger generally sings them, but if he's
not there, they need to be replaced with an instrumental voice.
