Spin: The Who Sell Out

Actually this is pretty polite for Spin...

The Who Sell Out
Apparently one can't reunite for charity alone. Bills to be paid and all. Rock
legends The Who, who
will play upcoming benefits for both Neil Young's The Bridge School and the
Maryville Academy
have also signed on to perform at a large, corporate function in Las Vegas. The
ex-mods will
headline Internet firm Pixelon Corp.'s bash at the MGM Grand Hotel and Casino on
October 29 for
an undisclosed fee. Before you start screaming, "Dirty sell-out hippies!"
remember that yes, the
Who played Woodstock '69 but they were also embraced by the Sex Pistols (who
covered
"Substitute") so they're not really hippies, are they? As for sell outs? Roger
Daltrey indicated to the
UK wire services that the corporate gig would help reduce the costs of their
appearance at the
above mentioned benefits so it's a good thing... right? Right? We're not sure if
they're dirty either.
They may be dirty. We're looking into it. The Pixelon "Bash" will be webcast at
www.pixelon.com.
Other rumored but unconfirmed sellout...er... performers include Tony Bennett,
Kiss and the
Offspring. We'll let you know.
