Re: Ben Lee

Ben Lee is an amazing performer and songwriter. Those few seconds on MTV
didn't do him justice at all. However, I wouldn't compare him to a young
Pete Townshend, he is alot
more like a young Simon Townshend. He went thru the "group thing" at an
early age (14,15)
and is making his own albums now. His latest is quite a good listen and very
well done. Pete would of never had the confidence at 20 to do what Ben is
doing on his own. Pete needed the Who well into his 30's to do anything that
could compare to his work with the Who (as nice as Who came first is, its
not nearly the effort Empty Glass was). If I had to pick the album that
showed more talent; Pete's Who came First (done during his mid-20's) and Ben
Lee's Breathing Tornados (mostly recorded when he was 19) I'd pick Bens'
Breathing Tornados. Go see Ben if you get the chance. He puts on a great
show. Now who's to say where Ben will be in 5 years, or even 10 years. But
his first 5 years in the business have already produced some great CDs and
tours. He will be on Letterman in June, and is dating Claire Danes
