Whofest 1999 becomes a reality!

Brian:

I most certainly will respect their privacy, however I think it not out of
line to send them an invitation. Not expecting it to be acted upon, but
just out of respect.

Jefferee:

Especially when dear ol' Dad is paying the bills, eh? Takes a bit of the
commercial pressure off.

My question would be: why didn't he get a Grammy when he was actually doing
his best (and most influencial) stuff? To my mind, giving him a Grammy for
the substandard stuff is nothing short of an insult. Where were they when
BLONDE ON BLONDE was released? Giving a Grammy to Mitch Miller, probably.

> Oh, wow. Now I feel doubly stupid.

Howard:

Please don't!!! Whenever *I* see ICE, my first thought is the magazine.
IOW, which I've used for In Other Words since first going online, has now
also become Isle Of Wight.

Derick:

If we're talking about August, and I would imagine that's as soon as we
could do it, then "warm" might be understating it a bit...we had better
make sure the guests have a motel with a pool...
As the person on the scene, I suggest that all who wish to come (even if
uncertain) contact me or Derick with suggestions about a general
timeperiod. So we can (hopefully) find a time when all who want to can
come. In fact, the larger the target date you can manage, the easier it
will be.
I should tell you that August is fine, but we should reserve the rooms ASAP
(as I assume near enough to walk to the beach is desirable), and just as a
practical matter September would be better (less people here, it's still
plenty "warm" enough, everything's still open, the rates are slightly
lower) but that may be impossible for parents, so...those two months are my
suggestion. You need not follow it; I'm here all of the time so it doesn't
matter to me. It's YOUR Fest!

`Course if we have it in August or September, that IS in the hurricane
season. We haven't had one hit since 1989 (some of you might remember Hugo)
and before that 1954, so the odds are against it. Besides, we'd know at
least a week in advance that one was even headed in the general direction.
Still, with the weather patterns being what they've been of late (not that
there's ANYTHING wrong with the Ozone layer or anything...nah!), it's a
consideration. Hurricanes don't bother us much, here...we just deal with
them.

> meet there, fine, that's ok. I'd rather try Myrtle Beach. (Each to
> his own sewage?!)

HEY! That's MY line!

I encourage the ones who live too far to come, or don't wish to travel so
far, to get together another Fest! Why can't we ALL have some fun?
