That's pretty much Cohn's argument.  I'll unlimber the scanner and let him
speak for himself if my software can handle it.

I swear I remember reading here someone saying that that danceability and
lightheartedness was also the quality of the "Rock Around the Clock" type
of rock, from the 50's, but I can't find the reference right now.  That's
also the least attractive aspect of 50's rock to me...I'm not big on the
doo-wop shooby-do type of 50's songs, either.  I prefer the Elvis lines
which evolved into The Who, Zep, and punk.
