Pure "n Easy Etc..

Hi Gomper and everyone, I have to agree with you, Pure and Easy is simply
The Who at their supreme best. How it was never originally released at the
time of recording, maybe as a single is beyond me,it may have even gone
right to the top! Daltrey sings really well on it as does Pete and for once
Pete's guitar is not lost or buried in the mix,but clearly it has that great
overall killer Who sound that only The Oo' could create! I too could listen
to it over and over again,in fact I wish Pete had written a longer version
of it like WGFA so I could get more of it! Err,Pete would you care to,it's
not to late you know. (HA HA). On the subject of The Who by numbers, I like
this album very much,at the time of it's release,I saw The Who play it live,
and I thought They did it really well,Dreaming from the waist,However much
I booze,Slip kid,Squeeze Box were all good live songs and Moon's drumming
both on the album and live was just terrific!I don't think that the live
songs from WBN lasted too long on the road for some reason, which is
exactly why they should play these more.(Hopefully on a futre tour).I do
remember the odd music critic or two saying that they thought the Album
was too personal a statement from Pete, but i disagree,How many friends
for instance,IMHO,is Pete's reaction as a spokesman foe The Who,regarding
their managment troubles of the time and the fact that huge amounts of
money went missing.I can imagine how Pete,Roger,Keith and John felt after
all they had been through together now to find out that .Roger was'nt happy
but still agreed to sing it on the album so therefore I still feel it was a
Who collective effort, and The Ox was emerging as the best Bass guitarist,
having been voted as such on a fairly regular basis,in England at least. So,
Gomper, what do you think of WBN ? Regards, Derick.
