John's Bass Playing

I had the good fortune to see John and his band four times in '98.

The last time was especially enlightening in that I had a table no
more than say 10 yards from John and right in front of him. He is
absolutely amazing to watch play. Literally all ten digits are
moving up and down those strings! If I were one of his bass strings
I think I would have to have a cigarette afterwards:)

I just wish more people knew how consummate he is at his music. If
perhaps he were only better at promoting himself rather than say
being 'the quiet one'.

show than a concert, but I was mesmerized by John. Some bass players
pluck with one finger, good players use two. John's the only one I've
seen
using at least three... I couldn't tell, because they were a blur! The
Who are
greater than the sum of their parts, but John is one helluva part.<
