Here's Keith on the subject:

"No, I’m not really into technical drumming.  I don’t play a technical drum
at all.  That Billy Cobham kind of control and discipline is incredible,
beautiful but it just isn’t me.  Then again, I’d be lousy at playing what
he does and he’d be lousy at playing what I do.  I don’t really get off on
being able to do so many paradiddles.  It doesn’t impress me too much.  I
feel much more at home being very brash and spontaneous."
