I have a copy of that show on tape. The interview takes place at the Freddie Mercury tribute in England. At Wembly I think. He spoke with several musicians that day. Bob Geldof, Queen and Roger are all that I have because I threw a tape in when I heard Roger was going to be on. I wanted to see how many times he'd insult Pete this time. Now it bothers me to bring this up because I am a Who fan in every way and have been for years. I'm also so glad to be part of this mailing list so please don't railroad me for what I'm about to say. I hate Roger. Even though The Who have been my favorite band for years and the lyrical and musical content of the songs are like no others, I still do and always did think he sucks. I've had this discussion with lots of Who fans over the years and many do agree that The Who's weakest link was the sometimes off- key singer. Songs: A+ Guitar: A+ Bass: A+ Drums: A+ Vocals: C+ Now I know that this is probably angering some of you as you read it and I'm not looking to get into a shouting match over Roger's worth to the band but I do feel that Roger should be very thankful and aware that he is a very fortunate man. I bring all of this up with some reluctance because I do think so much of The Who. So as I said earlier, don't shoot me. I have a tape of Roger on the Stern show doing an interview to promote his 1992 solo tour. It may be the one that was changed to "Roger Daltry sings the music of Pete Townshend" because of poor ticket sales. During the interview Rogers is asked about the success of The Who and Tommy. What Roger said here amazed me. I don't have the exact quote but I will get it and post it for you. Roger alludes to the creation of the Tommy story as something that Pete had little to do with and that Pete took way to much credit for a project that Kit was mostly resposible for. I won't say anymore until I find the tape and get EXACTLY what was said, but Roger should really go do a day as a "sheet metal worker" before each interview. If I offended some of you I'm deeply sorry. It wasn't my intent. "And I'm looking for that free ride to me. I'm looking for you"
