THE OX: REVIEWED BY THE SONICS ALL MUSIC SITE

John Entwistle The Rock/Griffin Music

After nearly 10 years John Entwistle a.k.a. The Ox (no intro needed) has
his mid '80s solo project The Rock finally released by Griffin Music. This
album was recorded in the mid '80s with a hand picked band by The Ox and
was a group effort with all sharing in the song writing. Thought no writing
credits are offered The Ox offered four of his own and stuck to just bass
throughout and the trumpet on one cut "Suzie". If this album had a proper
deal with proper support, especially on the MTV merry go round it would
have done very well with the suburban Rock Heads that live and die by MTV.
Though this CD may not rest well with Who fans, those who love slick
'arena' styled Rock (Journey, Frampton etc...) will eat this up this music
up by the earful. Long live The Ox! Jay Siekierski
