QUAD soundtrack

I recently aquired the QUAD soundtrack on CD. As some of you know, it
contains a significant portion of QUAD remixed by John Entwistle (sounds
like he added completely new bass), as well as three songs reportedly
unused in 1973 but written for the original release. The LP also had
several songs by other artists which were in the movie but are not on
the CD version.
When the LP came out, I didn't like the remix but loved two of the "new"
songs (Four Faces & Joker James). Now, upon listening to the CD version
(remastered instead of remixed, I think) I find it sounds almost live
and like it very much. The horns have been placed in the background and
certain guitar parts brought out. There are also strings and a flute
added, which is going the other way, but still it's an interesting
listen. The strings bear the unmistakable mark of Astley Sr., as on Love
Is Coming Down and some of the Townshend SCOOP songs.
As for FF & JJ being written in `72/3...perhaps, but they sound very
much like they were written later. FF's middle section sounds a LOT like
However Much I Booze. JJ also sounds like material on the upcoming FACE
DANCES. Kenny Jones is the drummer on these tracks (and better than on
any other Who song, IMHO), and they sound more "Pop" than any QUAD song.
They would have been out of place on the original release, but in 1979
they seemed to indicate a bright future for the new Who. On CD they
sound better than ever.
Anyway, I suggest any QUAD fans should get it before it's out of
print...if it isn't already. You do get three songs available nowhere
else, and alternate versions (whatever that may be worth to you).
