Another Who First

Here's another log for the fire...

The Who's album, "A Quick One" was released in 1966. The actual song, "A Quick One" was the first "non-3 minute-single" to receive radio airplay. This broke the rule that singles and album cuts had to be no more than 3 minutes long.

I've heard that the Beatles' "Hey Jude" was the first song to break the 3 minute standard (both The Who's and The Beatles' camps claim that their song was the first), but I believe that Jude was released in 1968 or 69. So, if my data is correct, then The Who get another "first"!

On another note, some of the folks here were mentioning concept/rock operas by The Kinks. One Kinks' release that wasn't mentioned was their absolutely fabulous "Schoolboys in Disgrace". If you've never heard it, RUN, don't walk to get it. Th-th-th-that's all folks.
