WHO-CONNECTIONS!!!

After seeing all the 'favourite bands lists' has anyone noticed the
somewhat uncanny connections with The Who?

For example...

LED ZEPPELIN - Rumour has it that Jimmy Page played on 'Can't
Explain'/'Bald Headed Woman as he was the only guitarist in London at
the time to own a fuzzbox. The name 'Led Zeppelin' was coined by Keith
Moon when he said they would go down like a Lead Zeppelin. Keith is also
reported to have joined John Bonham once on stage for the 'Moby Dick'
drum solo.

PINK FLOYD - Dave Gilmour played on Pete Townsends 'White City' from the
album by the same name and also guest appeared at the Qudrophenia gig at
Hyde Park ('Love Reign O'er Me')

THE BEATLES - The friendship between Ringo and Keith Moon is legendary.
Keith was also friends with John Lennon and covered a couple of Johns
tracks on his solo album 'Two Sides of the Moon' ('Move over Ms.L' & 'In
My Life').

FRANK ZAPPA - Keith, again, '200 motels'

DAVID BOWIE - Pete played guitar on one of the tracks from 'Scary
Monsters' ('Because Your Young')

SMALL FACES - Apart from the obvious Kenny Jones connection Pete also
released an album with Ronnie Lane 'Rough Mix' which also featured
Charlie Watts which brings us on to...

ROLLING STONES - As well as the cover versions of 'Under My Thumb'/'Last
Time' there was also the appearance on 'The Rolling Stones Rock and Roll
Circus' need I say more...

ERIC CLAPTON - Again, another legendary friendship right back to the
days of the YARDBIRDS. Notable connections include Eric as the preacher
in 'Tommy'

There are many other tangible connections with The Who and people
like...

ADAM FAITH, DAVID ESSEX (???) - Keith in 'That'll be the Day' etc.
(Roger in 'McVicar')

ROD STEWART, STEVE WINWOOD - Orchestrated version of 'TOMMY'

Can anyone else identify any more???

Amplifications and clarifications welcome.

Nigel.
