I saw Judsy's message and agree that it would be a good idea. I
wouldn't mind seeing even a failed new Who effort. Look at N. Young:
Some of his records weren't so great but at least he is always trying
and working. Or Yoko... you have to give her credit for being brave
enough to try out different things and risk making a fool of herself.
I saw a show the other night which included Patti Smith, also rather
strenuously attempting to make a come-back. I just loved her "hag" and
"weird" look because it's such a real comeback to the sexy
commercialism of a group like the Spice Girls for example. She has
great lyrics (obviously since she's a poet) and can sing w/a certain
ex-drug abuser (no doubt) anguish. I love that she just looks so
ravaged, old-looking greying greasy hair, wailing. Just great. Also,
B. Dylan is about to release a CD w/new songs; who knows what they'll
be like? Anyway, to bring this rather rambling message back to
Pete/The Who, he should try recording something new even if it flops.
By now he has the life experience, perhaps suffering, to bring to his
music, maybe more intensely than before. Judsy, would it be possible
to send an email, like these newsletters, on a collective basis?
Peace,
Helen
