come on now, the Tommy plot of obvious! (joking)
A while back I read "Full Moon" and there was a lot of information
about the Who in general. I think that is where I read that when
Pete wrote Tommy he had most of the songs, or at least fragments of
them, but couldn't put together the plot. One of their handlers (I
forget who) had to help him write the plot to Tommy. Apparently it
was never really worked out...at least as far as I can tell. If you
think the who killed who is tough to work out what the hell happens
at the end? The final repeat of See Me Feel Me suggests to me that
Tommy becomes deaf, dumb, and blind again after being rejected by his
followers. If I remember the horrible movie correctly they jump onto
beach balls...or something like that. I don't want to know how the
Broadway version ends since I have already heard that it is a happy
ending about being normal.
The one thing I fear about the remote possibility of Quadrophenia
going Broadway is that Pete might change the ending. As far as I can
tell Jimmy waits on the rock until the tide comes in and he drowns.
Now Pete says that Jimmy asks for rain and he gets it. WTF?
If you disagree please be nice, I am very sensitive.
