Hey, it took me a loooong time to suss out that he was singing 
"precinct".  I couldn't work it out even when I knew- Precinct? What 
was he doing in a shopping centre???  So in fact, the irony is that 
he wasn't using a British expression at all, but an American 
one.....;-)
