The Who's reactions as the lawsuits were starting to grow were very
respectful  and heartfelt.  However, in the spring of 1980 Pete gave an
interview to Rolling Stone in which he reacted sarcastically to the way
rock 'n' roll just seemed to shrug off the tragedy.  His remarks were not
well voiced and it sounded as if he meant The Who were just shrugging off
the tragedy.  The survivors, naturally, took offense and the out-of-court
settlement was delayed for over 2 years.
