Hope nobody has replied to this yet, I just got in.

At the end of Pinball Wizard, Hoffman staggered up on the stage and the 
following exchange occured:

Hoffman: I think this is a pile of shit, while John Siclair rots in prison!

Townshend: Fuck Off!

Hoffman: Wha?

Townshend: Fuck off my fuckin' stage! (almost inaudible) Mother Fucker!

Then, you can CLEARLY hear Townshend hit Hoffman with the guitar twice. 
Accrording to eyewitness account, Hoffman was hit in the way that 
Townshend used to ram his guitar into his amplifier.

Townshend then faces the audience and says: I can dig it.
