why FD and IH reissues are weak

here are some thoughts as to why the FD and IH reissues are far inferior
to previous efforts in packaging.

all the other who album reissues are celebrations of a great history of a
great rock and roll band. there is nothing to celebrate about the history
of IH and FD. everyone knows that these albums should never have been
made. why celebrate a mistake. once pete established his creativity as a
solo artist with empty glass he really didn't care what kind of material
went into the who albums. he was tired of carrying the band. IH was
recorded in a month, only a year after FD. to just put an album out to
tour in front of is such a crime. i think everyone in the who camp
wishes these albums never exisited. they cannot be proud of their
mistakes. that's why these albums are not lavishly packaged.

another reason might be that these albums originally came out on warner
brothers. in fact, when i first bought face dances on cd it was on warner
brothers label. somewhere along the line these were transferred to the mca
catalogue. i think it had something to do with you better you bet
appearing on who's better who's best. warner brothers probably said if you
want the song you have to buy the albums. perhaps warner brothers gets
royalities from the sale of FD and IH. that's why mca put no money into
production and packaging.

any other theories?
