Yes, Pete was the only member of The Who to attend art college.  
However this is in no way unique to only Pete Townshend.  Art college was the 
ideal education for an English rock star.  John Lennon, Keith Richard, 
Eric Burdon, Ronnie Wood--the list is long--were all art students. I 
think the art school training gave these stars the ability to mix regular 
American Rock n' Roll with European avant-guarde and thus develop Pop 
music.
