>The Stones DESERVE that publicity, based not just on their fame and
longevity but, especially, on the strength of their recent small venue and
semi-acoustic performances, from which a well-known video has been compiled
which shows the band in simply awesome form. Jagger sings rich and clear,
sounding much as he did in his 20`s (or better); Richards and Wood are just
perfect (Eg. on Gimme Shelter or Live with Me), and Charlie lays it down so
cool. This is by far the finest live rock one can hear today by any band, of
any age, English or Stateside. If we had a Who today that sounded the
equivalent of the current live Rolling Stones, we`d be very, very lucky.
Townshend was always a fervent admirer of Jagger and Richards. The live
Stones, at this particular juncture in their career, justify every article
of Pete`s faith.....Gary M.
