I didn't want to see anyone open. Was there a purpose to having an "opening
act" for this show?

to even do these solo gigs. (he was at that show and is a fan of Mould) 

I'm not entirely sure about that. Pete delayed his "best of" until such a
time when he could "tour". He still had a bad taste in his mouth from the
last tour where he lost $400,000. This venture he couldn't lose...

Whether Pete likes, loves, hates, whatevers Mold is completely irrelevant.
If he loved Tiny Tim, would you go out and buy his records???
