Riff tune title?

Recently I was trying to locate a Who song in my album/CD collection which
is simply an electric guitar chordal riff repeated over and over with only
slight variations as to timing, or maybe PT does a double strum at one point
but otherwise the riff, repeated continually, is the whole song. The chords
are exactly the ones which open In A Hand Or A Face and are a familiar
Townshend sequence. The song I`m referring to has no vocals. Memory tells me
that the liner notes on the vinyl album it`s on indicate that PT said the
tune was "just a riff which went nowhere". Does this ring a bell with
anyone? Thanks.....Gary M.
