7 simple words:  "Hope I die before I get old".  Roger himself said
something to the effect that he couildn't see himself doing this at 50. 
Rock was onece by youth for youth (which has all changed since the
superstars are ageing) On one hand, I'd love to see Pete do a summer tour
every year, but on the other hand there is a somewhat valid question
whether or not someone 50+ years can communicate as effectively in a
medium that is so youth oriented. 

One of the better ways of getting recognition is by crapping on the heroes
of the previous generation, like the Sex Pistols did, and it seems like
writers have really latched onto that, for better or worse (although who
here hasn't enjoyed a Rolling Stones geriatrics joke now and then?)

Or it could be they saw Logan's Run one too many times back in the 
seventies...
